tojosa,

For myself rear brake shoes on my 89" Camry only needs replacement about every 60,000 miles. Based on my driving habits I was told for the fronts pads 2X for every REAR BRAKES.

Hope it helps ya,

My wife and I have a 98 Camry. It has 99,000 miles on it now. The rear shoes for the rear drum brakes are original. The front pads have been replaced twice. The first time it was under warranty at about 22,000 miles, to try to fix the front brake groaning under heavy braking. The last time at about 75,000 miles with aftermarket full ceramic pads. I hope that gives you the information you were looking for.

Tojosa there's no answer that fits everybody. The fool proof way is i rotate my own tires every other oil change and i inspect the brakes then. And if you have enough lining left then you can go another 2 oil changes.
Toyota, who should know better, say the minimum thickness is 1 mm!!! I think the minimum, to me, is like 1/8" or 8 mm. But I just change mine when they are getting close like when there is like 3/16", pads are cheap, rotors are not so cheap.
