00 Villager p0325 -> p0440 -> p0325 codes

Hi! We have an 00 Villager with 90kmi that we bought in January. It recently started throwing the following codes in this order p0325 -> p0440 -> p0325(Knock sensor bank-1 -> Evap failure -> Knock sensor bank-1). I tried searching the forums, but didn't see any threads that addressed this exact problem.

I tried replacing the gas cap, but the codes returned. The codes always occur in this order(I keep a scanner in the van & check/clear the codes whenever the CEL comes on), but it only happens every couple weeks or around 300-400mi. There's never any hesitation or problems w/the van running or driving, and we've been getting a consistant 20mpg since we've owned it.

I'm suspicious that neither of these codes are pointing toward the actual problem, since the codes always occur in the same order. The whole van is immaculate inside & out, and in the engine bay; and I see no signs of leaks or bad connections that would give me any clues.

Has anyone seen this same pattern????

Thanks!
Pete

I have the same problem now, I'm working on it. I have a fair bit of knock when starting out, and the Check Engine seems to come on when cornering. Other posts have called this "Nuisance Codes" but I like to keep a clean machine so I guess I should check it out. Nice vehicle otherwise (Villager LS 1997)

Our codes haven't returned since I posted that(lol), which has been a couple thousand miles now.

I did clean the throttle body, but nothing else, & I don't really see how that would affect the evap system.

Maybe the new gas cap I installed had a harder rubber seal & took a while to break-in and seal properly???

For the knocking problem you may have some excess carbon buildup in the chambers. Try running some Seafoam throught the engine. You can get it at NAPA/CarQuest for about $6.

Thanks I'll try it. Cool Albert pic. Sorry I don't know enough to help with the email notification problem. Maybe your spam filter is killing it? Also I suggest you erase all the data you set up relating to instant notification and rewrite it, that seems to help with many obscure problems. Best Wishes
BoB
