98 Windstar no horn, no cruisefrmr 05-17-2006, 09:35 PM BUT... the horn works with the ignition switch OFF. Also no airbag light is on. These symptoms would indicate to me that the clockspring is ok. HELP!! frmr 05-21-2006, 07:38 PM figured it out. The ground is fed from the speed control servo circuit board. Its only powered up with the ign. sw in RUN. Well, the circuit board on the servo has a burned up place on it. wiswind 05-21-2006, 09:11 PM Thanks for posting the solution that you found.... Sounds like a new one! DRW1000 05-22-2006, 09:54 AM Strange but I once fiund a burned trace on my Cruise control switch circuit board assembly. It did not affect my horn but I found it odd that a trace would burn. The most dificult part for me was firguring out how to remoce the switch assembly from the steering wheel. frmr 05-26-2006, 01:26 PM Once I figured out from the print in the Haynes book that the ground for both the horn and cruise came from that box, I found melted plastic around a couple of terminals on the connector prompting me to peak inside. It looks like some brake fluid had gotten spilled on it in the past (guilty). Maybe that caused dirt to collect and short it out. Anyway, I'm waiting on mail order parts to arrive so repairs can be made. faji 07-03-2006, 02:52 PM Once I figured out from the print in the Haynes book that the ground for both the horn and cruise came from that box, I found melted plastic around a couple of terminals on the connector prompting me to peak inside. The module was saturated with brake fluid, but how did it get there? The replacement was $9.95 at the local salvage yard. Thanks & God Bless wiswind 07-04-2006, 11:08 AM The fluid may be from the brake pressure switch that is a high failure item. This switch can also cause no or intermittent cruise control. Check that switch, and if it is even damp, replace it. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
