Second post..
I have had a few questions built up for a while..

I have an Arc Welder..
Just a standerd 115VAC

Can I weld Stainless Steel, and Aluminium with this?

Do I need a special flux?

I notice alot of people use a MIG to weld SS or Alum.
I dident know If it was possible or not to do with an ARC..

Thanks

You cant weld Aluminum with a stick welder, but you can weld Steel and Stainless. For stainless use E316-16 Rod.

MIG welding stainless and aluminum give fair results. I'd much prefer to TIG weld stainless. Welding aluminum with MIG is a waste of time. Either o/a weld or TIG weld depending on the shaping you plan to do.

Dont know if I could ever afford a TIG in this lifetime..

Hrmm..

I have an Arc welder..
I am currently saving for a nice MIG

What I am going to be using it for is mostly car things.

I want to weld up a 2.5" S.Steel Exaust for the car.

and When I do my Intercooler it will all be Alum. Pipeing and I wanted to weld all that up as well..

I guess we will see what happens

Go TIG. You will need AC TIG to do aluminum. So look for an AC/DC Setup. Miller sells the EconoTIG at an affordable price. Its the lowest prices AC/DC TIG Welder. I've used it and I love it, its a great welder.

The problem with MIG is you always have to change the type of sheilding gas when welding different metals. Mild steel you can use C25 but with stainless you need a Trimix. Welding aluminum with MIG is just a mess.

Heres the EconoTIG: http://store.cyberweld.com/milec230vol.html

Check on eBay too.
