Too much fuel delivered

My sr20 det s13 exhibits long cranking times and the oil smells like gas. The compression and spark delivery and cam timing should be good so I believe my long cranking times stem from excessive fuel delivery during open loop conditions(at least). I've already tried removing the fuel rail from the intake manifold and the fuel pressure regulator vacuum line and letting fuel pressure develop with key on engine off. Nothing leaked from there. I'm not sure where else to go with this with limited diagnostic tools. Any tips on how to approach this one or at least fixes to similar cases would be appreciated.

well i can recommend some things to check.

check your spark plugs, if they seem fouled or lean'd...answer back

try this, since you think its running rich on start up. pull the fuel pump fuse, crank the car for 10 seconds or so, then plug the fuse back in. try starting again, if it takes as long to start as usual then fuel might not be your problem...

also..i dont know if you bought your car with the SR in it or not, or if you swapped it in, if you didnt check EVERYTHING...go back and check. Check the timing, tps, maf voltage...everything...then go from there
