I have a 97 Tacoma 4WD that has a really strange squeak that sounds like its comming from the right rear (I cant really tell). I starts at about 30 mph and is relative to the speed. I have lubed everything I can get to and cant find anything obvious. Help...................

Without hearing it it may be hard to say but it most likely is the driveshaft that needs lubricating.

In my experience it sounds kind of like a squeaky fan-belt only it is coming from the rear of the truck like you described. It is most noticeable when you take your foot OFF of the gas and unload the driveline.

If that is your noise then you want to get a grease gun and attack the zirc fittings on the U-joints as well as the zirc fittings on the driveshaft itself. The front U-joint at the trans yoke and the rear U-joint at the rear end have the zirc fittings tucked up in the joint so they are easy to miss.

It is part of the recommended 30,000 mile service, but I'm sure many times the dealers forget about doing it.

Good luck, I hope this helps.
