Where is it located on a 96 Blazer? Also the spark plugs? Thanks

On my 98 it's at the back centre of the engine compartment, behind the throttle body and air intake and below the two heater hoses running through the firewall--can't miss it--it'll have seven wires coming out of it---follow those to the spark plugs. Try searching the forum for tips on changing the plugs.

4.3 V6 right?
The cap is flat on top with plug wires coming out the sides.

yes it is in the center behind the engine.. and by the way is a torx head bolt and the one in the back takes a short stubby torx driver , you will never get the bolt out with a standard size driver. the firewall gets in the way! kinda sucks

Either a T15 or T20 I can't remember. Also don't overtighten during reinstallation It will crack the distributor (pryor experiance) Once it is cracked you won't be able to tighten the cap.

T20 on the end of a 3" ratchet extention worked great for me.
