Caprice Classic

Greetings all,

I am selling a 1991 Chevy Caprice project car (more or less). I really like these kind of cars but I have too many other projects going on. Perhaps some can sympathize. For those interested let me tell you about it...

The car while on the oustide has a few dings and scratches, looks rather good. Driver side rear quarter has a rust hole. The trunk floor was another story. It started as me changing the fuel pump, and realized the tank wasn't being held in by much. So this led to a large scale plan of reconstructing the trunk floor out of stainless steel. I thought if I am going to do this, I am going to replace the metal with something that mother nature can't destroy any longer. After cutting away the rotted sections (most of the trunk floor) I saw an oppertunity to check out the rear suspension and axle.

Well the upper control arms had pin holes in them, the lower ones were just fine. I ended up removing the whole axle, disassembling, chem soaking all rust off every piece of the rear suspension. Blasting all parts, cold galvanizing and painting all the parts. All new brake pieces, including new upper control arms, bushings, shocks, stainless steel brake lines, new parking brake cables, bearings, seals, u-joints, even most of the adjuster is fabricated out of stainless. All brackets to hold ABS wires and cables were made of stainless.

Upon stripping the frame rails the last 5 inches to the bumper had rusted thin as well. I made up templates to reconstruct the frame rails from the last 3 feet, have the pass side almost ready to go.

This car is only a Caprice. I had a Caprice Classic (fully loaded), that was involved in a rather nasty accident. It gave its life to save mine. I took most of all the creature features it had and was going to add it to this one. Like the dual power seats, heated power side mirrors, digital compass, etc. I started on that, removed the carpet to change out the cabin wiring harness, and discovered pin holes throughout the floor pans and a hole on the drivers side front (typical). I threw in the towel at that point.

I had the radiator re-cored, new timing chain, pump, alternator conversion, and new belt. Runs and drives great, well with a gas tank  .

I have so many extras for this car, I'll throw them all in and the car for several hundred dollars.

I am located on the Illinois- Wisonsin border, about 15 miles west of Lake Michigan.

If interested please email me at K_Trawczynski@yahoo.com (K_Trawczynski@yahoo.com) (K_Trawczynski)

I'd like to see the car and or parts go to good use.

Thank you for your time,
