Before I order a new motor is there anything else I should check? thanks. moif Blue Bowtie 05-11-2006, 07:10 PM Getting power to the wiper motor? Switch good? TommySS 05-12-2006, 09:08 PM My w/shield wipers quit working and I checked the fuse which is ok. Before I order a new motor is there anything else I should check? thanks. moif Need more specifics. Year/mileage is a good start. You can check for power at the motor easily, the switch takes a little more effort, but still pretty simple. I changed the circuit board, the washer pump, and after 20+ years finally installed a new motor. I then discovered that after I disassembled the old motor, cleaned it up and re-greased the gears, it's been working great since. moif 05-13-2006, 11:27 AM Thanks for your help. I now find the wipers are working intermitently. I`ll try to clean it up as you did. It`s a `87`classic brougham LS with just 57k on it. Can only find one site that has the motor and I`m not sure it`s the right one. Thanks again. moif GranniesCaprice 05-13-2006, 04:15 PM If its a 91-96 then its probably your wiper pulse module. Its connected to the wiper motor. You can take the cover off of it, and the circuit board will usually be corroded, or burnt if its bad. Not too cheap though. moif 05-13-2006, 06:35 PM Just after my last post I noticed there was a clicking sound from the motor so I moved the power connection that goes into the motor and the wipers started working. They are working steady now so I guess I`ll wait and see. Thanks for all the help. moif PeteA216 05-14-2006, 01:24 AM Its sounds like the contacts that the wires connect to are corroded or dirty, unplug thr wiper motor, and clean the contacts with some sandpaper or a wire brush and see what happens. moif 05-14-2006, 09:50 AM Contacts cleaned and contacts are contacting. Wipers operational. And I almost bought a new motor. This forum works! moif vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
