View Full Version : Welded diff. Welded diff. S13Driftfiend 05-11-2006, 06:34 PM AWDSR20 05-11-2006, 07:18 PM I did.... but at Drift days.... it worked well but we were concern about the strength of the weld, but yeah bro for DD u will have a hard time turning and BTW the car will UNDERSTEEEEEEER all the way when turning until u over gas it and u force it to turn. So the bottom line: don't do it unless u have a good weld and u will DRIFT it al the time sidewayzS13 05-11-2006, 07:46 PM yea at slow speed it promotes understeer and you will get some bucking at low speeds even when not turning depends on what you want. ther is nothing wrong w/ them if you are OK w/ those downfalls. but it owns for drifting. and as long as you have good welds you have nothing to worry about. and 2 months ago we had a long thread about this i think search it we covered it all i think miata1.6 05-11-2006, 11:11 PM Man a welded diff over LSD question is not just a 240SX kind of question, Ask about this in a forum with a more broad veriety of cars and people who have experience with a welded diff. S13Driftfiend 05-12-2006, 02:56 PM yea i figured it would be a pain in the ass. it is my DD so i think ill just leave it alone until i can do the LSD... SHIFT_KA24DE 05-12-2006, 06:56 PM make sure you get "LSD" not a vlsd if you're actually spending money on it. it'll be unpredictable and a waste of money. Unless it's free... then of course it's better than an open any day. Chuki_breath 05-12-2006, 07:05 PM yea if its free use the vlsd. Just change the fluid. S13Driftfiend 05-13-2006, 09:40 AM i dont mean to sound like a newbie or anything, but what is vlsd? i might know what it is and havent put two and two together yet? i just got into the whole turbo scene a few months ago so im still caught up in all of that. Edit: ^im not saying an lsd has anything to do with turbo setups, i just meant that ive been so caught up in it i havent gotten to research in that stuff (LSD and differentials in general) too much. Chuki_breath 05-13-2006, 05:04 PM viscous limited slip differential. Relies on fluid to heat up to cause locking the differential. Its not a clutch type or helical. sidewayzS13 05-13-2006, 05:28 PM here this will take you to the promised land http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=455889 Related Links Participate in thousands of discussions at AutomotiveForums.com!
