My wife's 99 intrepid stinks when I turn on the ac fan, smells like a barn when the doors and windows closed and the fan is on. Anybody know where the ac drain is on this car?, or an easy way to disinfect this thing without tearing the whole dash apart? I thought if i could get to the ac drain exit, I might be able to make sure it's open, maybe even spray some lysol in there. Thanks .

Don't use Lysol, it is corrosive to the Aluminum cooling fins.
There is spray specifically for deodorizing the A/C. Go to an automotive store and get some, follow the directions.

Thanks for the info, I'll give it a try, any idea if the drain on this is behind the wheel apron? regards

Are you talking about draining the A/C system? if you are dont drain it, the refrigerant in the the ac system is called {R-134a} which is very harmful to the environment and should only be repaired by a I-CAR certified technician.

There is a drain for moisture generated by the evaporator and for draining any rain water that may of goten into the Heater Box. The drain is a rubber elbow that is located on the lower part of the firewall inside the Engine Compartment.

My 00 used to be the same, finally the A/C when kaput (under war. so I didnt pay attention to the problem) but when it was repaired the smell was gone. I think they said smell was probably somehting leaking but it smelled for years before A/C died....

It must be a freon leak, it stopped cooling so I added a can of r134 and it started cooling again thanks
