Hi, I just recently purchased a 94 Intrepid. The seller said that there was a problem with the MAP sensor (Maybe, I'm not sure yet.)

The problem with it is that it stalls occasionaly, for no apparent reason I can pinpoint. Driving it around yesterday, it was fine. Drove it to the car wash today, fine again. When I decided I would take it up to a local mechanic, at first, it didn't want to stay idle. It would start, slowly drop off to like 500-400 RPMs and then if I tried to hit the gas it would die out. After I finally got it started by starting in a high RPM, it wanted to stall. Everywhere. I promptly turned it around and drove it back home.

After about 30 mins. I tried again. Fine, ran great. Kept starting it up, left it running for a bit. Turned it off, turned right back on.

What I want to know is, is this definately my MAP sensor, because I've seen other people having the same problem, only it was their cams, or their EGR valve, or something that I'm probably going to have to pay a buttload of money for...

Oh, and I tried to run a code check. Nothing. Code 55, that's it.

Get the Fuel Line Pressure checked when it does it, sounds like your fuel pump has about had it. Map Sensor or EGR Problems usually show the check engine light, but it's not throwing codes so I would rule those out.

I took it to a mechanic yesterday so he could look at it, possibly hook a scope up to it. Turns out, my car had a fire before. All the wiring has to be replaced for a total of $200. He said that when he started to mess around with the wiring, he pretty much replicated my problem.

Not sure if he's yanking my chain, my dad says he's pretty honest and goes to him all the time.

I don't know, I guess I'll see after I shell out the money I guess.
