NGK Platinum Plugstojosa 05-08-2006, 03:21 PM Folks, How long are the platinum NGK BKR6EKPB-11 supposed to last? I put OEM NGK platinum, plugs in my 99 Honda and Honda says says change them every 105000 miles! What does Toyota say about their OEM Platinums? I have a 98 - 4 cyl. Thanks, Charlie Mike Gerber 05-08-2006, 03:33 PM My 98 owner's manual says to change them every 60,000 miles. Mike tojosa 05-08-2006, 04:08 PM Thanks, Mike. I wonder if that is being real conservative. My 99 v6 accord manual said change their ngk platinums at 105000. When I pulled them at 105000 they looked almost new! I couldn't believe it. That plug was the same $ as the Toyota plug. Charlie Mike Gerber 05-08-2006, 04:37 PM I changed mine at 60,000 miles and they looked brand new. To me it's cheap enough and easy enough to change out 4 platinum plugs. I would be concerned with how they would come out of the head after 105,000 miles. By the way, the cheapest I could find them was at Autozone. I guess it's really your choice. Mike tojosa 05-08-2006, 05:06 PM They came out of the head just fine. A little no seize would help. Maybe they put something on them at the factory. NAPA told me the list on those plugs is $29 each!!! They sell them for 12.99. I'm chokin' on $52. for plugs when I could get a set of Bosch for $20 not to mention the el cheapos for $8. What gives ? I could get 60k out of the bosch. Charlie Mike Gerber 05-09-2006, 12:27 PM There have been several people on this site and another Camry forum who have had problems attributed to using Bosch plugs. I would stick with NGK's or Denso's. I used Denso (PK20TR11's) as recommended by the 98 owner's manual. I think I paid about $6 each back in June of 2003 at Autozone. If you have them in your area, give them a call. PK20TR11's are one of the 2 recommended double platinum plugs. Mike vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
