View Full Version : Is powersteering for suckers? Is powersteering for suckers? therealrayman 04-29-2006, 12:11 PM P.S. I need a coolant line and i can't get it anywhere, it goes from the block to the upper intake plenum?? Its a thick hose too so i can't buy regular line from discount :banghead: If some don't know what i'm talking about it has a valve clamped onto one end that screws into the plenum :frown:. Someone let me know, its one of the few things keeping me from cranking my rebuilt engine :disappoin . Later gurus. therealrayman 04-29-2006, 12:13 PM BTW, just to let you know, i removed the scuba steve flippers off my hood while i was at it. RIP SCUBA STEVE. Lotta gunk left though, seems like alot for chemical cleaner to take off, think i could get it with a plastic razor blade or no? I don't wanna take any paint if i can help it. sidewayzS13 04-29-2006, 01:08 PM driving w/o power steering is easy. couple days and your used to it i didnt have it w/ my sr and i was content. ust a pain to pak or mosty to parallel prak but its all good Chuki_breath 04-29-2006, 03:12 PM yea my hatch didnt have power steering for like 2 years lol. You can drive normal with it when you moving already...you actually feel the road better. But when your going slow you will work your arms out cuz its alot tuffer to turn....like sideways said mostly in parking situations. nice on the scuba steve removal lol. As far as the glue goes it really depends on what they used. Can you finger pick it at all? I know it may take forever to peel off. I always use an "eraser" which is an air tool. Dont know if you have access to air compressor though. THats how i remove pinstripes and any sticky goo left from debadging or anything like that. 240SXSlideStar 04-30-2006, 11:54 PM I rather have it. But I'm a lazy bum. sidewayzS13 05-01-2006, 12:27 AM as chuki said i like the feel of the road better. just sucks if your trying to turn the wheel when not moving but as long as your going like 1mph your fine 89'SIL-40 05-10-2006, 04:26 PM YA, remove that crap!....you free up HP, makes your engine bay look better, more space to work. Not only that, you build your arms up! It also feels more like a race car...(all tight!) Yeah take it out!....DO IT!!! whoodie 05-26-2006, 07:30 PM What about belts, doesn't the p/s belt go to the fan? zauber 05-26-2006, 07:58 PM it would free up like maybe 5hp? personally, if you can have it might as well use it. i drive everyday with my beater without it, but when i drive with power steering everything seems easy. i'd say keep it but that's up to you. Chuki_breath 05-26-2006, 10:47 PM it would free up like maybe 5hp? personally, if you can have it might as well use it. i drive everyday with my beater without it, but when i drive with power steering everything seems easy. i'd say keep it but that's up to you. lol yea thats true. When ever i would drive a car with it, i would swerve real hard and fast because its so much easier to turn and i would be used to no power steering. Dyno247365 05-26-2006, 10:51 PM Power Steering is a privledge, it's ABS and Traction Control that you can do without. Chuki_breath 05-26-2006, 11:01 PM im glad i have neither on my coupe :) Hit_N_Run-player 05-27-2006, 05:05 AM i love PS, people are always like "mad dRiftzzz Yoo, take it out.." I think its easier to drift, way easier... nissan_240sx 05-27-2006, 07:57 AM Don't matter to me, I'm used to both -The Stig- 05-27-2006, 04:15 PM  I like how people say it's like a race car without powersteering. I hope they realise that most race cars have power steering, to help fight against fatigue on the driver. Not to mention they're turning large wheels with really fat sticky tires... power steering is a must. AWDSR20 05-27-2006, 11:53 PM YA, remove that crap!....you free up HP, makes your engine bay look better, more space to work. Not only that, you build your arms up! It also feels more like a race car...(all tight!) Yeah take it out!....DO IT!!! Wtf? R u srious…. Dude! keep the power-steering u need it! Go to the track for one day and tell me that u can correct the rear of your car at 60 mph with out power-steering… I ddin’t have PS in my car for a year and I felt the road well but it kept me from pushing my car at the track, I couldn’t steer the thing anymore and I couldn’t REACT fast enough… (left to right and left to right again) With PS your nimble, and your car was engineered to have PS, don’t remove it. BTW, 240 don’t have a manual PS rack and pinion. And the shaft from the steering wheel to the steering rack is thin; it was made to be used with a power-assisted rack! The manual steering rack has a THIK shaft to handle the manual stress. By removing the Power- Steering, u can snap the shaft that connect the steering wheel to the rack and kill yourself at some track…. My unit cracked and I had to buy a solid one from NISMO for $270, I did crash but lucklly it was at the track not the street… MetalHeadZaid 05-28-2006, 03:05 AM Wtf? R u srious….
