upper and lower intake gasket ?????TCHRISD 04-26-2006, 05:50 PM I was told by a mechanic( that i trust) at a Ford dealership that my truck is running lean due to the upper and lower intake gaskets in my 1998 ford ranger V6 4.0 needing to be changed. Can a weekend mechanic like myself do this? Any advice or instruction? Any special tools required? thanks. 2000mudder 04-27-2006, 04:01 AM yes. it's not that hard just lots of parts to remove and reasemble. just be sure to follow tourque procedure for intake bolts exactlly!!! Psychopete 04-28-2006, 09:54 AM does anybody know the tourque procedures? Get a repair manual. They have detailed instructions of the procedure, the correct torque specifications and the bolt sequences. Or take a piece of paper with you to an automotive store and just write it down. I've done that for firing orders and other specifications. Pete TCHRISD 04-28-2006, 10:42 AM Get a repair manual.
