Hi,
My friend (all 5'2" of her) wants a Ford Ranger truck, and has up to about $4000 available.
Any suggestions on what to look for, what to avoid?

For that amount she should be able to get a decent mid 1990s truck. Other than the usual stuff, Ranger gas gauges tend to malfunction and the A/C-Heater system can be cantankerous if the blending door is broken. The other stuff is dependant on the engine/tranny combination -- but on the whole they are great little trucks.
