I parked my truck on Friday....Monday morning I could not start it.It would turn over but no fire.I noticed that with key on engine off i could hear both fuel pumps running....and running.....and running.I hit the ignition and it still wouldnt start.I left the key on and after about 6 minutes the pumps stopped running. When I hit the ignition it started up.When I turned it off and tried to start it again....SAME THING!!!!!!!!!!.......I heard the fuel pumps running. They woulnt stop for almost 8 minutes.During this time the truck wont start. It just turns over but no ignition.Ive been driving this truck since 1997 and know that at key on the fuel pressure relay kicks in and the pumps run briefly for about 2-3 sec than stops. Now its taking 6-8 minutes. My diagnostics tester shows only code 11.(no problems) Can anyone help me?

sounds like maybe the pickup tube fell off or is clogged? i would open the tank up to see whats goin on.

Easiest way to check is to lift the bed off the truck, trust me. It is allot better than fighting with the tank.

Have you found the problem? Sounds to me like the fuel bypass is not working. I will let you know if it is easy to remove the bed. I am trying to put my 88 back on the road after sitting in the barn for 6 years. Fuel gage says empty but I can't get any more gas in the tank. Another project!
