Question about radiator leak on 87 RX-7ude_loose 04-24-2006, 12:23 PM Well just bought the car it has a small radiator leak on top on what seems to be some kind of sensor it is broken and thsi i believe is what makes my car beep warning me it is out of raditor coolant when it really is full what should i do. My horn also doesn not work any suggestion on what it can be, and the clock does not seem to work either all this is kinda dumb stuff but im new with these cars... mwolvin 04-24-2006, 01:21 PM I would replace the sensor-- it detects low coolant levels. Make sure you bleed the air out of the system afterwards. Horn-- you'll have to run down the electrical on that. Clock-- most likely the unit itself. If I remember right, these cars are known for bad welds in that display. Try taking it apart and looking for damage/ loose solder joints on the circuit board. You might be able to fix it. Otherwise you will probably need a new unit. drftk1d 04-24-2006, 01:41 PM yeah the clocks in most s4's stopped working years ago lol i would replace the radiator, i'd do you some good and you will have some peice of mind, not to mention the radiator must be 20 years old now ude_loose 04-25-2006, 11:21 AM im got lost when you said bleed the air out of the system how would i do that? as as to replacing the radiator it is actually new since the guy that i bought the car from replaced everything on it and the new engine only has about 37K miles on it so im going to the Mazda dealer to get a new sensor. mwolvin 04-25-2006, 01:13 PM There is a plastic phillips head screw plug on the black goose neck coming off of the engine side of the upper radiator hose. unscrew that plug and then fill the radiator until coolant starts coming out of that hole. Some of these other guys/gals should be able to give you some more tips on getting all of the air out. It's been a while since I've done it myself. drftk1d 04-26-2006, 11:56 AM thats pretty much it vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
