89 gmc sierra oil getting in throttle bodyjcampbell23 04-23-2006, 05:56 PM i noticed that my truck was blowing smoke when i start it up and taking off. i looked at the mount that holds the air cleaner on the throttle body and there is oil in there . there is a hose in the back of that mount that goes to the driver side valve cover , (it not the pcv valve). the oil is coming from there . does it supposed to do that. thanks Mr. Smith 04-23-2006, 10:18 PM i noticed that my truck was blowing smoke when i start it up and taking off. i looked at the mount that holds the air cleaner on the throttle body and there is oil in there . there is a hose in the back of that mount that goes to the driver side valve cover , (it not the pcv valve). the oil is coming from there . does it supposed to do that. thanks It will if you have excessive blowby jcampbell23 04-24-2006, 12:17 AM what is excessive blowby and how do i fix it (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/excessive%20blowby) horse482 04-24-2006, 11:32 AM I would start by changing your pcv valve and see if that stops the problem. If it is excessive blow by you will have to have the engine rebuilt or replaced, becasue there is either something wrong with the cylinder walls or the piston rings. jcampbell23 04-24-2006, 12:34 PM wouldn't the engine run bad or something , it idols smooth and runs pretty good at all rpms. Mr. Smith 04-24-2006, 11:52 PM wouldn't the engine run bad or something , it idols smooth and runs pretty good at all rpms. It might run just fine but the rings can't hold in all the compression and the crankcase is pressurized slightly forcing oil out. It is servicd to the full mark and not overserviced correct? jcampbell23 04-25-2006, 03:11 AM i replaced the pcv valve and cleaned the hose from the pcv valve to the moter . i still not getting any vacuum , could it be cloged some where . how would i clean it out .what do you think. thanks for your help vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
