I tried to reset my central locking so the doors would not lock when the vehicle started to move. Something has gone wrong and now the doors lock and unlock randumly. How can I reset the door locks to default. Should I disconnect the computer? If so, shere is it?
Thanks, Jerry

what i would do is disconnect both battery cables and touch the cables together WITH THEM DISCONNECTED FROM THE BATTERY and touch them together with a wrench or something metal this will ground out all the power in the memory system thus when you reconnect the cables 15 to 30 min later all your settings will be reset to factory the way ford had it of coruse you will lose your radio settings and mpg calc if you have digital gauges but hope this helps

I agree only if you don't have any aftermarket audio amplifiers or capacitors installed in the car. If you have a cap in there that could turn very ugly.

Disconnecting the Battery is a great idea, unfortunately it did not work. Yes indeed, I did short the two connectors together for about 15 minuets. Still no good. I finally have removed the 20A C/B under the hood and killed the whole Auto lock feature (along with the power seats) I will drive with only manual locks until I can find a solution. Jerry

I'm interested in this topic, my Crown Victoria has the AutoLock feature as well, and I've been wanting it disabled too. The manual describes how to do this but it only works until the next time I start the car then it's back to locking when I shift from R. Your problem seems like it might be something like mine so if you ever figure out how to fix it please post here.
Thanks

I still have no solution. I changed the door module but the same problem exists. Jerry

I'm not the original poster, but I think we have the same problem. Some models have a feature when you shift from R the doors lock autmatically. And, although there is a description in the owners manual on how to stop this, neither of us are able to make it work.
Myself, I can get it to work, but only until the next time I restart the car, then it reverts back to locking at shift from R again. The only reason it should revert back is if the battery gets unhooked again....

Hmm... So basically you are saying that door locks start to lock and unlock when you:
-just insert the key inside ignition switch
or
-turn the key and start the car
just by themselves? without you touching anything? while you are driving? shifting a gear? braking?
Since you said that you changed DRIVER DOOR MODULE (DDM) my rough guess is that you have Power Door Lock/Unlock Circuit Failure somewhere.
Is all of your wiring closed by the trim panels on the right and left side?
Any loosen wires/connectors? did you check all 3 right side ground bolts?
Did you check left side ground bolt?
Is the RH bulkhead electrical connector properly connected and its bolt tightened?
PS. All these questions I ask because I had slight failure of door locks when I removed Instrument Panel. Then after I checked everything out it was fixed.

After I start the car they are totally random. I will check all these points. I have not done any work on the car and everything is in place. Where is the Left side ground bolt? Jerry

ground bolts are behind LH and RH cowl side trim panels. but if you did not touch them they probably ok. you might need also to tighten the bolt on RH bulkhead electrical connector.

ok, i think i know whats going on.
You said you installed NEW DDM...
Upon installation of a new lightning control module (LCM) or driver door module (DDM), the module must be reconfigured. Did you reconfigure it?

No. I just plugged it in. JerrySince you would need a scan tool for this my best bet probably would be to make a stop by the local mechanic and ask him whats going on then.
You may want to ask him to use Customer Preference Items method of module configuration.
Customer Preference Items
This method is used to enable or disable module-controlled items or systems to suit the preference of the customer. Not all features controlled by the module are listed in this configuration method. Refer to the Module Configuration Index for a list of features per module (they are Autolock and Horn Chirp)
Also keep in mind that:
If an item is changed using the customer preference items configuration method, the changed information will not be stored in the PCM VID block. The VID block will retain the original settings as they were recorded when the vehicle left the factory.

What kind of a scan tool would I check for? Would it be the common OBDII tool?
Thanks, Jerry

Special Service Tool(s):
- Worldwide Diagnostic System (WDS) 418-F224,
- New Generation STAR (NGS) Tester 418-F052, or equivalent scan tool
- Flash Cable 418-F120 (007-00531) or equivalent
However I can not say if you need just one or all of these tools.
Thanks, Jerry
