Does anyone know what seperates a Caprice Classic from a Caprice SS?

Because someone said they had a Caprice SS and it has the same engine as mine. (4.3L V8) So I was wondering about that.

there is no caprice ss, its an impala ss and that came with the LT1, 5.7L. There are alot of differences between them cosmetically but I dont know power train wise.

The Caprice SS did exist. Just not in the USA.:banghead:

The Impala SSs were rebadged as Caprice SSs for the middle eastern market, Saudi Arabia etc. It was a common modification here for some time to buy the Caprice SS emblems and put them on you car.

The Caprice SS would have only come with a LT1 as stated above. Another interesting detail was the export-pipes. These were straight through pipes which replaced the exhaust pipes which ran from the exhaust manifolds to the mufflers. That's right. No convertors!

And the Caprice SS (export) also used a different headlamp assembly (all glass) with a clear turn signal lamp mounted outboard of the headlight portion. There were a few other differences as well, but nothing substantial.

My 9c1 said caprice classic and i changed it to caprice ss
you could even put one that says super sport only they go for 16.99 $
and there no such thing as caprice ss only impalas are super sport

a website just tipe in 9c1 in your browser there it tell you everthing

the only caprice ss thats real is the 2004 that are in sausdi arabia or some shit you can go on car domain and look it up the come with a 5.7 and they are rear wheel drive i wish they had them here becuz i would get one.....but i did see a 2004 caprice at a dealer but it wasnt a ss and it looked pretty wack

The "Caprice SS" was available in Middle Eastern countries in 1995, and was basically an Impala SS with different badging, export pipes, export lighting, and a couple other minor changes.

There absolutely was a Caprice SS it was a rebadged Impala SS, because the Impala is considered a sacred animal in some cultures.

The Caprice SS dash plate was a GM part due to the sale of said cars back in the mid 90s in the middle east. If some of you want to be so stupid as to continue arguing with those of us who actually have a clue I can get a part number.
Like the Impala it was for all practical purposes a trim package.

It may be called a Caprice SS (just if you "buy" the idea that the current W-body "Wimpala SS" is a real Impala SS). The Chevrolet Impala and later Caprice were always full size cars. If you think that a 110-inch wheelbase qualifies as a full size, then maybe the rest of us need to be recalibrated. Chevrolet (or GM as a whole) is now made up of either idiots, or people who would ruin a good name and heritage just to sell more cars. I think most people on these forums would agree, after 1996, Chevrolet died.

with the exception of the corvette, which has grown better each year.
unless, that is, you think that a corvette that can finally beat a viper is not progress, or you ignore the new magnetic rheostatic chock absorbers, or the impressive fuel economy for a car that can get close to 180.
i think chevy has made lots of progress, but now needs to apply that progress to more affordable cars.

I think the Corvette is Chevrolet's One Act Show. The Corvette excluded, what does Chevrolet offer? You have the W-body Impala with 3.5L and 3.9L V-6 and the 5.3L (FWD) V-8. You have the economy Malibu, Cobalt, Aveo, and on and on. The only other car that might catch any interest is the Monte Carlo (but I think even that is FWD). By the way, who would want FWD V-8?

That Caprice from Saudi Arabia above is actually a RWD. It's a rebadged Holden, as is the US GTO.

sorry, i mis spoke, i meant to say monte carlo was the fwd pos. the impala is a good car but is not for sale in the US, so i cant really count it. sorry about the confusion. si-212 is right AGAIN. now THERES a brand we need in the US. Holden and Monaro would absolutley dominate in the US market. monaro has a truck that looks like a modern el camino that beat the top speed record for a truck set by Dodge. they also have falcons over there in australia, those lucky bastards!!!
