Leaking radiator

I noticed the other day my 98 Tahoe is begining a slow leak leak of coolant from the drivers side end. Somewhere a little below the top hose, maybe from where the crimped part is attached at the end-cap piece. Is this a common failure with these trucks? Is there an O-ring type seal in there that goes out? I know mine has high miles, so it doesn't really surprise me... I just wanted to know if it's common, and what to expect to pay for a new radiator. Any suggestions for places to buy from? Most of mine I have got from NAPA in the past...

Is there anything difficult about pulling it out? Iv'e done quite a few in the past, but never a full size Chevy truck. I see the shroud is split in two, so do I only have to pull off the top shroud, disconnect the hoses and trans lines, and it's out? Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!

I replace my radiator on my 90 a month or two ago. The split shroud makes it very easy. Just like you said, upper half of the shroud, cooler lines and hoses and it is out.

I bought mine at http://www.discountradiators.com/ for $108 shipped to my door. Ordered it on a Thursday morning. Got it the next day at my house. Very happy with the radiator.

Wow, $108 that is dirt cheap for a radiator that size! I replaced one in my son's 92 Saturn a while back and even that little thing was something like $160. Thanks for the link. I looked mine up on there and they listed 3 different part no's. They were all $246. I'll shop around and see what else is available, and then maybe give them a call and find out what exactly is the difference there...

Just an FYI update...

I ended up replacing my radiator with one from Car Quest. $232 for the heavy duty (4 core I think). The job went smooth, other than me slicing open my finger with the utility knife when trimming the new radiator hose! That's what happens when you try and rush the job... The rain was starting and I had tools out all over the driveway! :)
