I have a 1979 280ZX and I am wanting to drop the fuel tank to clean it out because the car has been sittin for over 8 years. I have never removed a fuel tank from a Z before and was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to remove it and/or clean it. Thanks in advance.

just have plenty of liquid wrench on hand like delirious said and be easy with it if it loosens a lil work it back and forth before loosening more to prevent from breaking the bolts...

yah and most likely those straps are rusted up and once you drop that tank it will compromise the integrity of them so i would replace the straps while your at it you can go down to any autoparts store and get it in a roll it will have holes down the center of it so it can be tightened to length ...
