96 sts timinng belthickmysta 04-20-2006, 04:00 PM right front side looking down.. i just noticed that the cam belt is frayed,and needs replacing.can i replace that belt by removing the cover,disengauging the tension and sliding the belt right out ,or do i need to do some major pulley disesembling?Also aren't there two belts? thanks in advance butch h 05-21-2006, 12:33 PM Are you looking at the serpentine belt? My '94 uses timing chains.I changed the serpentine belt with no problems,but to be on the safe side I also changed the tensioner and the idler pulley. caddydaddy 05-21-2006, 09:53 PM It is easier to remove the tensioner pulley.
