Brake problems, and its getting darksau4u 04-19-2006, 08:05 PM I am changing the back brakes on a 94 mustang. Easy enough to get off but I cannot seem to compress the caliper with my c-clamp. both sides are the same and I have put quite a bit of force to try and move it. I checked to make sure the e-brake is not engaged and seems to be functioning well. I have changed brakes before on trucks and am trying to do it the same way. Is there a trick to make the caliper compress. Thanks. KimMG 04-22-2006, 04:36 AM Using a c-clamp on the rear calipers will destroy them. You need a special tool to compress the rear calipers on Fords. Suggest you invest in a repair manual or go to autozone.com for a free repair guide. motorjock205 04-23-2006, 01:46 AM Any decent auto parts store has even a "universal" tool that will work to TURN the pistons back into the calipers. Hopefully in all your effort to compress them with a C-clamp, you haven't destroyed them...When in doubt, consult Chilton's FIRST!!!! :nono: Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
