Will the "Heavy Duty" 9c1 shocks fit on my non 9c1 '84 sedan. my shocks are dead, and i was hoping i could replace them with the 9c1 ones for better body control, but im not sure if they have the same dimensions and such.

also, were the springs any stiffer on a 9c1, and if so, could i swap them in for my non 9c1 springs.

sorry if you covered this in the 9c1 engine poll, but i couldnt find it.

Yes, the shocks and springs were stiffer on the 9c1 package. This is especially true of the boxy 9c1, which were stiffer than the whale body 9c1 package.

yes yes and yes, most suspension parts will fit, like my caprice, i have 9c1 springs and shocks all the way around, then i put on 9c1 sway bars.its all on a civilian caprice, thing handles great i love it, alot stiffer.

The rear sway bar does not bolt to the frame, it bolts to the lower control arms. If your lower control arms do not have the mounting provisions for the sway bar, you will have to either change them for ones that do (a lot of work) or go to a GM parts dealer (ie. car dealer) and buy a mounting kit (goes into your lower control arms, much less work).

mine had the holes, but come on changing lower control arms isnt that hard, ive done it before on my buddies 94

Do note though the owner had installed an aftermarket rear bar which was much stiffer than the stocker.

The stock LCAs, which you can get as a complete set from GM, should be fine for normal street use with a STOCK bar.

My 9c1 has 190k on the clock with a stock sway bar and the stock LCAs. I see nothing like this on my car.

Ditto my car. I've inspected the entire suspension on the back, and I've not seen any stress cracking on mine.

my uncle installed really stiff solid sway bars on his 69 GTO, and it ripped the bolts right out of the frame. they had to weld a 1/2 inch plate on top of the frame and get longer bolts to get it to work. now it rides like its on rails.
