my trip to Las Vegas

Well me and two of my friends have decided to take a trip to vegas before one of the guys goes off to Florida to join the AF. my friend's mom has a time share so we are going to stay there. and we really don't care what we are gonna do there, but the biggest debate we are all in is how to get there. We'll be there for probably around 5 days so my friend wants to drive. i want to fly, the other is so busy with school right he doesn't say anything. My question is what would you all do?

here are the things i'm considering.

FLYING:
quicker, don't have to worry about gas or anything going wrong with the car, no wear and tear on the car, get to visit another air port. the price is around 260 roundtrip, but i have a free ticket with Southwest

DRIVING:
cheaper, gas would roughly cost about 100 dollars round trip, we would have a car while there so we could visit other places (like Lake Mead), much longer, spend more time in a cramped car.

driving time from Albuquerque to Las Vegas is about 8 hours, give or take 15 minutes. basically i'm trying to get some insight that i may not be considering. if anyone has anything to say, knock yourselves out.

I agree. Twice i've driven from St. Paul MN to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Fun times, alot of fun stuff to do on the way. I would rather take a road trip than fly.

Wouldnt rape anyone.

Anyway ON TOPIC.. i'd rather drive.. considering the fact that you almost got to wait 2 hours in the airport before the flight and just sit there and do nothing, i'd rather drive the way there..

Also driving 8 hours can be sped up depending on how fast you're going..

Drive man!!! I drove my Eclipse alway to British Columbia and then down to Los Angeles! It was one of those spur of the moment things.. in my situation, a flight would have been cheaper, but the scenery was amazing. I never would have seen the Space Needle on my way to California if I took a flight. I never would have met up with this group of people who closed a mountain road so they could do a hill climb in their cars too. They were the reason I got into autoX in my city. Never know what could happen on a drive, but it's definitely more exciting! Except when you're driving through flat prairie land for seven hours.. It's a better experience with a drive.

i'd say drive, it's a great time to spend with your friends. nothing is more fun that just screwing around and being total idiots. besides, it's only 8 hours, you can do that in a day, unless you're a pussy.

flying's just boring, you have to get there an hour earlier, go through security, get strip searched, and then you're just sitting, the same situation as if you had been driving.

I'd say this is a sweet opportunity. Drive it, get the most out of the country. Why look down at specks, when you can drive through them?

Besides, after considering the airport b.s. getting on and off, you don't save that much time anyway.

Drive. 8 hours is nothing. Lake Meade is awesome. I drove from SC to LA with the wife in her car. Lake Meade was a nice little stop and was kind of a way to see part of the Grand Canyon. After that, the Hoover Dam is right there before you get to Vegas...
