Hello, I've got a "95 Gmc 4x4 4.3 V6. I have to change the pitman arm. I was told the steering box has to be taken off in order to get a puller on the arm. I've changed the idler arm without too much problem. Is there another option other than pulling the box? Thanx.

When I replaced mine on my 90, I pulled the box. Later when I was at my buddies alignment shop, I asked him how he does it. He told me that they remove the bolts holding the box, rotate it 90 degrees, remove the pitman arm, install the new arm, rotate it back and bolt it back up. They do not remove any of the power steering hoses this way which makes it a cleaner job.
