Gommet.

A rubber ring that lines a hole through sheet metal.

I usually try to find one where stuff is already routed through and chase the new wire or cable through there with the existing wiring or whatever.

If you just go through an unprotected hole, it'll eventually chew through whatever you run through it.

Or you can buy a grommet and drill a hole through and use the grommet you bought to protect whatever you're running through.

You can also improvise, and just use rubber tubing or hose around your wires to protect it.

well, i was just wondering if its safe to go poke a hole through it and run my power wire for my sound system through it? It's covered by a plastic wrap, i want to make sure its safe tho. i am pretty sure you got the same thing i got. It's on the driver side going towards the dash.pop your hood and see if you find it.... let me know what it is please?
