What trannys will fit my 1996 s10 blazer or a great rebuild kit?bjrjr16 04-16-2006, 01:25 PM Hey, I have a 1996 blazer with a bad tranny. When I bought it it also had a bad motor but I have got my hands on a motor allready. I had the blazer towed to my residenceand they towed it the wrong way. They used a tow dolley and towed it with the rear end on the ground and the front end on the dolley. By the time it got to my house(30 miles later) it was smoking from the tranny and leaking atf all over the road. I bought the blazer knowing it had a bad tranny allready but I think it is beyond a rebuild now. I was looking up rebuild kits and the most common are the ones from 100-150 bucks, Are these good and would this fix whatever may be wrong with it from it being bad before(slipping and not shifting) and what farther damage is done to it now? I was told by a guy that if you drive the truck with the tranny slipping the pieces that come off will get lodged in the transfer case and ruin it aswell, Is this true? I have found a 1996 blazer tranny with about 90,000miles on it near my location for about 400 with shipping included, I was wondering if this would be my best bet and also would i need a transfer case? Also what exact year make and model tranny would fit on this blazer? Thanks for any help dmbrisket 51 04-16-2006, 06:42 PM the tranny in your blazer is a 4l60e, all 4.3l and small blocks with a 4l60e will fit on it, also that is the rebuild kit you would need if you decide to do it i would reccomend a total overhal of the entire thing, use the case, replace all the guts vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
