Got a ride in a 1974 Bricklin SV-1porscheguy9999 04-15-2006, 01:31 AM I was at the varsity rugby game this evening and saw this car in the parking lot. I thought it was a 240z, but it said "Bricklin". It turned out to be a 74' Bricklin SV-1 that belonged to a friend of my friend's girlfriend (the owner of it was on the opposing rugby team). After the game ended and JV's game started we decided to go to McDonalds. He was showing off the car to some people as my friend's GF takled to him. Just on a whim, I asked him if he wanted to drive me to McDonalds. And to my utter surpirse, he said yes. I got in hunched over (it has gull wing doors) and he said to press and hold the button which closes (and opens) the doors hydraulically. Its got an AMC based V8 (I think) and has 220 hp stock. And was the 460th-ish built out of about 2000 in 74. The 75 had a Ford V8 with only 170 somthing hp. This thing was very quite cool. And you may not know what a "Bricklin" is. Its a company from Detriot that made small amounts of cars in the 70's. http://i2.tinypic.com/vhagwo.jpg http://i2.tinypic.com/vhah4n.jpg http://i2.tinypic.com/vhahbr.jpg http://i2.tinypic.com/vhahjs.jpg http://i2.tinypic.com/vhahsn.jpg http://i2.tinypic.com/vhahzd.jpg http://i2.tinypic.com/vhaiac.jpg abaird 04-26-2006, 10:05 PM That would make it onto my list of cool cars. I like cars like that. Ones that were only around for a little while and not many people know about them. porscheguy9999 05-05-2006, 05:17 PM Uhh, sarcastic? :uhoh: abaird 05-08-2006, 08:27 PM uhh...no Garfield2 07-22-2006, 11:58 PM Took pictures of 4 Bricklins all next to each other in the parking lot at the winery today. Looked pretty cool. I can see where they had problems with the gull wing doors though. Vern Reg Saretsky 12-02-2006, 08:47 PM Moncton, New Berunswick ,if I remember correctly. Malcolm Bricklin did a lot of 'taxpayer assisted ' projects:screwy: Cars from Isreal, etc....The Bricklin was a good idea that needed better management .:smokin: vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
