All of a sudden the automatic door locks on my PAU '93 stopped working. I used to be able to push the button on either the driver side or passenger side door and the door locks would either lock or unlock. Also, my power radio antenna stopped working at the same time. I checked my fuses. What would cause this problem? Thanks for your help.

Did also you check the fuses that are hidden underneath the passenger side sound insulator under the dash? That is where the pwr lock fuse is located.

I had the same problem with my '92 PAU. The fuse is right where Loekee75 said it is. It is a 15 amp fuse. I put a new one in and it worked fine.

Thanks,

I located the fuse box and replaced the power door fuse. It worked ok. Then about five minutes later the fuse blew again. I've replaced the fuse twice so far. What is the reason that the fuse keep blowing? About three weeks ago I had a new radio system (with Nav) installed. Everything work ok up until three days ago. Thanks for your help.

It sounds like you have a short in your pwr lock/ antenna circuit. That or, Just a guess, your new radio's antenna pwr wire could be delivering a little too much current to the circuit causing your blown fuses.

Thanks,

Yesterday, I had the radio installer split the circuit that the radio antena and the door lock was on. So, now, the radio antena is not on the same fuse that the door lock is on. The radio and antena now worked okay without any problems. The antena goes does down when the radio is off and everything seems to work fine. However, the door lock is still blowing its' fuse. So, the problem is isolated to the door lock mechanism. What is the specific part that handles the door locks - because it may bad and have to be replaced? Thanks again.

The aftermarket radio harness has a wire made specifically for the power antenna, so the circuit for the door locks/ pwr antenna didn't need to be split by the installer.
The door locks should be controlled by the RAC (Remote Accessory Control) module. I'd see about fixing that split circuit you mentioned because aftermarket radios accommodate even factory power antennas without needing any further modifications.

Thanks Loekee75,

When the aftermarket radio antena was first installed, the radio antena wire that came with the radio was used and attached to the antena --- and, everything worked fine for three weeks. The new radio, the antena, and the door locked worked without any problems.
We decided to split the antena from the door locks only when the fused started to blow after between 5 to 15 minutes after being inserted. This way, we where able to isolated and correctly identify the problem as the door locks. I still don't know what exactly is causing the fuse to blow. Maybe the RAC (Remote Accessory Control) module that you mentioned have to be replace. What do you think? Also, as I said before, my keyless remote to the door system hadn't worked for the doors in over a year. Eventhough, the remote itself checked out okay. Thanks for your help.

I don't want to point you in the wrong direction, I'll research the circuits/ diagrams in my electrical manual (it's for a 92' but I believe the wiring should all be about the same) I'll pm you with anything I find

Loekee75,

Thanks for your help. I finally discovered what was causing this electrical shortage problem. It was a dime coin that had fallen in the cigarette lighter slot on the back seat door panel. I was fortunate to happened to look inside the lighter and saw a dime in the bottom of the slot. I took out the dime, change the fuse, and everything has been working fine since. Thanks.

That's one of the oddest causes for a short I've ever heard! Glad you got it taken care of.
