i notice on my g/fs taco that the driver side cv shaft has some nasty play on the diff side of the shaft. i've replaced them on my chev lots and thought it was the same thing, only to notice apon further inspection that there are no flanges. i check in the haynes manual and it appears to me that you may need to pull the diff assembly apart to pull the whole shaft out. there is a C ring on the diff side of the shaft that looks like it locks it in the diff. i'm just looking for some direction before i tear into it... it'll be a couple days before the new shafts come in so i've got some research time.

thanx

If your CV shaft is like those in the 2003 you should be able to drive it out. See the 2003 manual;http://misc.mmdsi.net/tacoma/tacoma-manual/
Select Volume II and find page SA-34 for a drawing. I haven't replaced one, but I assume the method in shop manual will work.

Good luck, Clifton
