Exhuast system question

I got myself a 1990 CV a few months ago, and the car runs ok. I noticed that exhaust was coming up from underneath the car. I checked and noticed that both of the cattalitic converters had what looks like you would attatch a small hose or pipe to on the front sides of them with exhaust coming out. What is suppose to attatch to these? Can anyone tell me what parts i need and what they attatch to?

Im not too knowledgable about cars, but give me basic tools and parts and i can usually get them on.

Thanks

Your air pump pipies are missing. What they do is add air to the cats to burn off the unburned fuel. Now with out the pipes you will kill you cats and also you will not pass emissions with out them either. You can go to autozone to get the parts or a dealer or even napa.
