Sportivo Concepts 01-03-2004, 07:50 PM There is a fellow, by the name of Tony, ToyoRolla and The Wraith knows who I am talking about, he is pushing 450 with his 3 Gen Cam. He is running a 1MZ in his Cam, with a custom turbo set-up. It took him about 2-3 yrs to push the numbers hes pushing. I wont go into everything that makes up his set-up, but I will he has alot of swaps and customs work done by himself. His only problem is getting a tranny that can handle all the power his Camry produces, I think he is on his 3rd blown tranny now. If your in Canada, and you see this car, run away, far away, cause it will own your ass big time. http://htracing3.homestead.com/files/Camry/camstg7n.jpg DaveMush 01-04-2004, 02:21 AM I figure an Mr2 Turbo trannie w/ LSD would work well for him. It shouldnt be the trannie at fault either, at most it should be his half-shafts. they tend to be rated for about 340 to 360Hp... -Dave MKIISupra 01-04-2004, 09:00 AM Hi, sorry I have a stupid question. Can anyone explain to how to read the numbers. Like on the Celica GT-S 11.5:1, thats the compression, can you tell me what that means and what each number means? Thanks! sidler73 01-04-2004, 01:22 PM The 11 represents the amount of volume the cylinder brings in----------------------------------------------------------------------- over the amount of volume "to be compressed in the cylinder head area" So 11 volumes compressed into 1 volume. Now obvioulsy if you decrease the "head volume" you increase the compression ratio...this is called shaving the head, cutting the head, or reshaping the head (primarily on 2 strokes). Ok to re-hash 11:1 or 11.2:1 or .5 or any (.)point is just a fraction of the volume that is to be compressed into 1. Piston draws in the volume (say 11 in this case) (intake valve open) Piston moves up (with valves closed) and compresses the volume into the cylinder head (this is the one [1]) Now in the real world the number can be complicated. This is a simple example...8 cylinder, 8 Litre engine the volume (theoretical) is 1 litre in the cylinder. to be compressed into 11 times less the space. So 1 (litre) compressed into 11 times less space, than 1 litre. sidler73 01-04-2004, 01:28 PM Sportivo Concepts 01-04-2004, 05:29 PM I figure an Mr2 Turbo trannie w/ LSD would work well for him. DaveMush 01-04-2004, 11:49 PM nope, the power he is producing is too much for any stock tranny from Toyota, at least stock from a car. except that there are MANY Mr2 Turbos making 400+Hp w/ a stock trannie. Including LB's 600rwhp Mr2...and he had to buy aftermarket halfshafts. JeckleandHyde's drag car did the same. He snapped a couple halfshafts on the strip. Aftermarket clutch... YES Aftermarket Halfshafts... YES Aftermarket Trannie... NO -Dave thewraith 01-06-2004, 12:16 PM There is a fellow, by the name of Tony, ToyoRolla and The Wraith knows who I am talking about, he is pushing 450 with his 3 Gen Cam. He hasnt even completed his motor... The 450hp is what he is expecting to make... thewraith 01-06-2004, 12:30 PM Go back and read fella.......wheel dyno's are "guaged" and approx...they are up to the "operater" to "determine" the amount of loss.(many will add up to 30%) to impress you especially if you are buying the parts and mods "in-house" [/url] ok am I the only one that caught this ... If we have a loss of 30% to the wheels, as you say... Then wouldnt a engine dyno show more power ??? This totally just kills your arguement... Let see lets take my friend LB's 615whp add 30% lose wouldnt that come out to 799hp ??? LOL, not only are you a untalented tuner... you cant seem to do math either ... Damm !!! I feel sorry for your customers... But whatever you stick to your guns, man... Just keep going on what you believe. OOHHH!!! by the way ... Man landed on the moon too...  :iceslolan :grinno: :lol2: :loser: p.s. I'm done with you ... thewraith 01-06-2004, 12:33 PM I figure an Mr2 Turbo trannie w/ LSD would work well for him. And Sportivo Concepts is correct because there is no fwd automatic that can handle 450hp DaveMush 01-06-2004, 02:33 PM Tony the Tiger is running a automatic... And Sportivo Concepts is correct because there is no fwd automatic that can handle 450hp An auto? ok... I stand corrected. That would be a hard thing to accomplish. -Dave Toyrolla 01-07-2004, 07:34 PM Greetings All. it's been a while. I hope everyone has had a Happy New Year... If Tony wants to keep the automatic, he might have to consider Level10 or a similar vendor to rebuild the tranny to handle that HP demand. That could be pricey to do. In a cost effective manner, he will fare better with the E153 swap. Sportivo Concepts 01-08-2004, 01:38 PM I dont know bro... He hasnt even completed his motor... The 450hp is what he is expecting to make... I thought last time it was running he was pushing 425, hence the blown tranny, and new intercoller, and all the other toys he since added. thewraith 01-08-2004, 02:54 PM I thought last time it was running he was pushing 425, hence the blown tranny, and new intercoller, and all the other toys he since added. he was only pushing 268fwhp then he blew it... The motor is currently being rebuilt with all the forge goodies... And thats why his getting a new tranny and intercooler warlock 10-13-2004, 11:42 PM do you guys know why he is keeping the auto and not going with a manule?thay can handle more power.or is it a tony thing (you know he just gets them and will make them work) DaveMush 10-14-2004, 01:10 AM Well, I guess I'll let you all know later this year what the E153 can handle in stock form. I'm adding a twin screw S/c to my set-up during the winter. To begine w/, I'll only be running about 7psi. Once I get another engine or a shortblock and get the internals done up, I'll be running more. As or right now, in stock form...
