Holes I don't want/needKahneFan 04-08-2006, 08:08 PM OK, my 2000 Silverado had a airbag on/off switch where my 06 has a useless (to me) cubby hole. And, where the cup holder used to be (which I liked better) is now a useless indention. I have two questions... 1) is there a way I can (nicely) mod the small cubby with a face plate so I can at least put my cell phone mount there? i.e. can I go to a junk yard and pull the airbag switch from another truck and put it there on mine? Is it that easy? 2) If I were to get a center console with air, could it/would it hook right into that useless indention at the bottom of the dash? OR, is there anything I can do with that? If not, why in the world didn't they just make a solid dash there? tykrz 04-09-2006, 02:20 AM be nice if one could put the cup holder back in there TexasF355F1 04-09-2006, 11:49 AM Can we get a pic to help give the visual? kenny-1907 04-09-2006, 11:55 AM You could always go to a local stero install shop and see if you can by a piece of the black plastic they use for their installs and cut it to fit and epoxy it in place over the hole, then you can adhere your cell phone mount to that. If you take your time and do a good job, no one will be able to tell. It all really depends on your skill level and how confident you are if you want to start cutting up your dash to see if you can put the cup holder in there or not. KahneFan 04-09-2006, 03:39 PM be nice if one could put the cup holder back in there I agree, the new design is not functional at all. My truck is basically my office and the new cup holder makes it very hard to drink (soda's) while you drive. My phone holder's bas is probably 2" x 3" or so, so as you can see below, there's no good flat open surface to mount it on, which is where the old switch plate would come in handy. http://www.forums.stockcarbar.net/dashsample.jpg vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
