95 z24, 2.3l :banghead: going to work one morning (had to happen as soon as i got on the interstate) and it wouldnt go over 15mph. i SLOOOWWWLY drove home, and noticed that there is a very bad gas smell, coming from the exhaust not the intake. got out the good ole obd2 reader, and shows map sensor high signal, unplugged the map, and it will barely idle and will not go at all. i mean like 5mph slow. and it showed map low signal, so i figured id go buy one and be on my merry way. ok, so i got a new map sensor.. i had to give back the obd2 reader and i cant remember if i cleared the code or not but the check engine light is still on... the map to intake hose is cracked up like a mug so i electrical taped it.. but still same problem of not hardly running at all.. has anyone else had this problem?? if so what helped? i REALLY need your help. if you help me ill be like your virtual bitch er something. i can tell you the engine is BRAND new (from gm, not remanufactured, less than 1000 miles on it.) i checked all fluids and that was fine. i checked the wiring going to the map and it seems fine. oh please help me i feel like SLLOOOWWWLLYY driving it into a brick wall.:screwy:

Lose the cracked, taped up vacuum line and put a new one in.
If it's an engine swap then there might be something that isn't quite meshing with original equipment.
If you don't have the scanner anymore, after replacing the vacuum line, leave the battery disconnected for a little while to clear the PCM's memory and all codes (not the correct way of doing this but it works). Then see how it is.
If it is still bad, then the wiring might have problems that aren't visible. If not, then Check the injectors. The car is obviously running way too rich, they could be stuck open and constantly pouring in fuel.
You might need to just take it to a shop that has all the equipment to quickly figure this out.

thanks for all the input, iv tried everything and nogo. im having it towed tomorrow to the dealership because me and a certified tech seems to think that somehow or another the timing chain slipped. how i have no idea but it's internal and i have a 100000 mi, 3 yr warranty (HAH! BEAT THAT AUTOZONE,OREILLEYS,AND ADVANCED!) on the new engine (which is direct swap) and it has less than 1000 mi. on it... now i know why gm only used this peice of crap 2.3l on 1 year and only with 1 car. it actually has been used in other cars but not all electronic and different head i believe with different bolt pattern. i dunno.. maybe im just under too much stress lately but this car has really got me by the balls.... i paid premium price for it ($3500) and have spent 3200 in trying to get it to run right.. hell i could have bought my dream car for that price (92 mitsu. 3000gt vr4). or put a v8 in my 84 fiero... sorry to vent. im just really disgusted with this car.
