I recently had to replace the right front wheel sensor that controls the low tire/ABS sensor as the "low tire pressure/ABS/Service Vehicle" lights were coming on and going off on a somewhat regular basis. To diagnose the problem my mechanic hooked up the ODB and it threw the sensor code. So far so good.

Immediately after the code was diagnosed, I noticed that sometimes when I turned the ignition key on all the dash lights would flash repeatedly and the car would not start. If I turned the key off and then back on it would eventually "bypass" the problem and start normally.

Once started, the car seems to run normally. Any ideas what this could be? It's driving me crazy (well, crazier :) )

TIA, Ted

Start by looking at bad battery/ground connections, the it gets complicated after that.

That was the first things I checked...battery connectors were a bit loose and were tightened...ground connections looked fine :banghead: :shakehead

I guess this is not going to be pretty :disappoin

You could have a Passkey problem or in a worse case defective ignition switch and harness assembly.

Also check the grounds that terminate at the engine/tranny grounding stud. And check the red wires/cables going to the engine compartment fuse box and from alternator back to the battery.

I thought about the PASS key problem this morning, figuring maybe when the OBD got attached it did something to the program. The spare worked great the first time I tried it and then the problems resurfaced later. I am inclined to think the PASS key programming got screwed up somehow. Unfortunately, I cannot do anything about it until Monday.

Thank you for your reply...I am going to recheck all the wires as soon as the rain stops :)

Well my 1997 LS was doing something similar to turning the key and the dash lights flash, yet NO start. Actually i would turn the key, (to start mode) and only PRNDL would display. However in my case i would have to turn the key over and over a good 5-8 times for the Regal to finally START and have all the usual dash lights appear. I'm ended up changing the ignition switch.

Did u check the resistors in your fuse box?
Good luck :)

did you ever find a fix for your problem? I have a 98 regal with the same problem it sounds like.
