Its a 10" 800W max JVC sub.
http://www.jvccaraudio.co.nz/Factsheets/0405/Subwoofers/CS-WG1000/CS-WG (http://www.jvccaraudio.co.nz/Factsheets/0405/Subwoofers/CS-WG1000/CS-WG1000.html)
1000.html (http://www.jvccaraudio.co.nz/Factsheets/0405/Subwoofers/CS-WG1000/CS-WG1000.html)

I was thinking about getting 2 of them since i can get the for $50CDN a piece brand new. Do you think i should?

Also if i were to buy an amp for them would i have to buy an amp that can handle 1600W max? or do i go by the RMS rating. I am really confused about that :frown:

Thank in advance.

Well if thats your budget...go for it. You asked what we think of the sub, well I think it's garbage but it just may suit your needs fine. An there is no such thing as MAX power, go by RMS.

i agree if thats your budget thats fine, but if you have more money to spend then do it. you get what you pay for and jvc subs suck. i would go with a reputable company like kicker, mtx, eclipse and so on. names that have nice stuff thats why they cost alot more.

Ever thought of a single 15, im going to assume that thats about equal to less then 100US. Spend a little more for a set of good 12's or a good single 15 that can be anywhere from 120+ depending on where you look for the sub. You can get a good amp and sub for about 300 off ebay thats what my friend just spent on a profile amp and a 15" alpine. Hits pretty damn hard for how much he paid for it.

Thanks alot for your posts guys. I guess your right, you do get what you pay for. Since this is going to be my first time intalling a system i was looking at this.

like everyone is saying you do get what you pay for
that system may last a while but its not really good
but it all depends on what you are going for and how much to spend

1st of all, dont buy from ikessound.

2nd of all, for that price pick up a pair of RE audio RE 8's.

3rd of all, look at SoundSplinters RL-i 10. One should do nicely.

and last but not least, a soloX 15 and 1200.1 is way out of your price range, not mentioning you could get much better for the money.

Well lower end rockford subs arent exactly known for being very good... Have you considered a Pioneer 12" sub from future shop? http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/proddetail.asp?logon=&langid=EN&sku_id=0665000FS10060201&catid=

I have 2 of the older model of this sub and they have done me quite well. I have had them over a year now and use a Alpine MRP-M350 to power them and they sound pretty good, plus they can really pound if that is all you are looking for.

They seem to be of pretty good quality, they are supposed to be fairly durable and by how they have lasted so far I can believe it.

IMO this sub is about the best you can get for this amount of money.

WOW thanks so much for posting that! I went to future shop's site about a week ago and didnt see that. I guess i missed it. But thats a great sub and its a good price. Ill probably get that 1. But 1 more question what would be a good amp for this sub. Should i look for 1 that can handle 400W RMS? or can i get 1 lower. I really dont want to spend tooo much since this will be my first install

Thanks agian for all your help!

Well I am running an amp that puts out 350 watts rms @ 2ohms which is less than half the reccomended power rating but they pound real nice an clean in a decent box. I recommend getting a sealed box it makes for tighter bass. But a ported box takes less power to make more sound, I went with the sealed box for mine they sound really nice and pound hard. My amp is an Alpine mono block amp it was about $300.

Just save your money and do your first install with the RIGHT products. Don't rush it and use poor products because it is your first install. That's a mistake right there. Really, if you have the ability to purchase online, do it. You won't find the subs that will have a great price:quality ratio.

If you absolutely cannot purchase online, look at the Alpine Type-R 15" subs at Best Buy or wherever the hell they carry them.

Is 350w @ 2ohms the lowest it is stable at? You're telling me you paid $300 for 350w @ 2 ohms? Idiots... I started out here on these forums, but I'm never coming back after this thread.

I see so i would be able to buy an amp thats 200W or 300W RMS and itll still sound ok?

I do have enough money to buy a really good system but another reason why i dont want to spend a lot is because its going into a van that is going to be outside all day. So im afriad that it could get stolen since i dont have an alarm. And i dont want to install 1 because its a beater.

Thanks agian from your posts guys.

Err actually that is pretty good for a 350 watt RMS Alpine mono amp. I am talking in canadian currency here so that makes a difference... It's 350 watts rms, and yes I realize that is only half the power they need but they still sound good and that amp is all I could afford thank you very much... Ok so dont go shooting off like that not all of us can afford to go out and spend $800-$1000 on a really amazing amp. I am a college student I bought what was reasonably good for a price that wasnt too steep.

If you dont believe that amp is adequate that is your opinion but dont knock it till you have heard how it sounds, and dont say I dont know what a good system should sound like because I have a buddy with a $5k+ 3 speaker system (JLw7 sub, JL component 6 1/2" front speakers, phoenix gold amps), so yes I do know what a good system is supposed to sound like.

Ok thats all I have to say I am done my rant.

You can get very good stuff for cheap. Its called lurk on all the forums, and watch the classifieds. If you do that and take your time, you will get some very good stuff for extremely cheap. Also, watch ebay. Put out feelers for items, let people know what your looking for, you will get lucky.
