tranny wont downshift on freeway?onehate02 04-04-2006, 06:59 PM when im crusin on the freeway and im on a downgrade i like to throw it in neutral and coast so my rpm's drop and i can save some gas, i dont know if this is the cause of my problem but in the past weeks the last 2 times i went on the freeway im cruising at about 75mph and it wont downshift to my 4th gear when im stepping on the gas, it just stays at 3,000 rpm's and if i fully take my foot off the pedal it downshifts and rpm's drop, but as soon as i step on the gas a little to keep it goin it jumps back up to 3,000 rpm's in 3rd gear, ill throw it in neutral and let it roll for 5 or 10 seconds and put it back in drive then step on the gas a little and it goes rite back up to 3,000. then a mesage comes on my dash and says "transmission hot," so what the hell is wrong with it? the first time i fidgeted with the shifter for a bit and it fixed itself about 20min later but the 2nd time was no use. i have an 04 ecsb and the only performance mods ive made are k&n and magnaflow. thanks for any input. gangsterlyrical 07-06-2006, 06:41 PM I've got the exact same issue going on...just happened yesterday on the way through mountains coming home from the 4th...never happened before then. What did you do to fix this? I've read some posts around here talking about the K&N oil dirtying the mass airflow sensor, so I cleaned it today...shifting does seem a little different but so far no idea if it fixed my problem... Anyone else seen this? Thanks! maxwedge 07-06-2006, 08:15 PM I've got the exact same issue going on...just happened yesterday on the way through mountains coming home from the 4th...never happened before then.
