Hey guys, I have a 1997 toyota tacoma with a lil over 300,000 miles and just recently the motor has had problems (it hasent been driven for a while was my dads work truck) and the codes says low compression and multiple misfires on cylinders 2-3, new plugs/wires i told my dad probably the injectors but he saidthat wouldent cause low compression. anyone know? tommorrow ima try to pull out the injectors and do some inspektion thanks.

Your dad is right about the compression. With that many miles the engine probably needs a total rebuild or replacement. The first check I would do is a compression test to verify what the code is telling you. If it is very low and unbalanced, over 20 psi difference between cylinders you are wasting time with the injectors. Get the compression right first.

Yeah. 300,000 is a lot of miles. I second the thought of a compression test. If it says multiple misfires and low compression on 2 and 3, the headgasket might be blown between those cylinders. But check your compression and be sure. It could be worn piston rings or the valves may no longer seating properly.

Before ripping it apart, do a dry and wet compression test. This will give you an idea if it is the head or rings.
