Gas tank overfilled. Will this create problem?Flutie7NFL 04-02-2006, 11:34 AM Yesterday when I gassed up I encountered the slowest pump that I had ever experienced. After taking about three times as long as normal, the doggone thing never clicked off and it kept filling until the gas was going down the quarter panel (and I was holding the nozzle myself---I never heard it getting close). I thought that I had read once that overfilling can cause some sort of harm. Does anyone have any insights on this? Thanks, friends. OffroadX 04-02-2006, 04:18 PM In general, shouldn't be a problem, but there's a chance that fuel could have backed up into the vapor recovery system (the charcoal canister specifically) which can cause charcoal particles to back up into other parts of the system which can trip the service engine soon light... vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
