I was just wondering if this sounded right...
I was quoted at $750 for calipers, rotors, and pads (and some other misc.). My car isn't even worth that much!!

Was this from the dealer or other repair shop. Hyundai parts are as follows.

Front Pads part # 58101-29A20 List $49.50
Front Rotors part # 51712-28300 List $85.74/ea
LF Caliper part # 58180-29A20 List $222.10
RF Caliper part # 58190-29A20 List $222.10

That's $665.10 in parts from a dealer. I think the front rotors on that year Elantra are a press in rotor, which aren't easy to remove. So you would be looking at additional labor there as well.

It was from a Conrad's. All I went for was an oil change and that's what I walked out with...

Thats a rip off. I did a total brake job on my Civic. I know parts for your Hyundai are a little hard to come by.

Honda OEM calipers $250 for the pair, Brembo Rotors($150) and akebono pads($50), with new Honda fluid ($10)

They want $450 for your calipers alone? Try Autozone or somewhere.

how did they decide you needed new calipers? forget the calipers, throw on some new rotors and pads yourself for less than 150$
