This usally means that you have a bulb out. Turn on your signal and take a look.

Mine was doing the same thing last week. I replaced the flasher and it's OK now. On my '97 it's located right next to the fuse panel under the dash. But I had to remove the panel to get to it. You can listen to it when the turn signal is on and trace it's location.
Try this if you don't have a bulb burnt out like suggested above. A flasher costs $6, available at any auto parts store.
