Purchasing a jeep

I am looking to buy a jeep grand cherokee. I noticed that the 98 limitied with the V-8 5.9 liter was a good option. It seems to have a good mix of on and off road capability. Please let me know if you have any concerns with this model and year. Are there better options in the same price range? Looking for your opinions Thanks!:smokin:

The 5.9 will suck gas, but other than that you should be good to go. On the V8 models of that year, I think it's full time 4wd and if so, the viscous coupler might eventually go bad. There are numerous posts about it here, but basically do a tight figure-8 in the vehicle, and look for any lurching/noise/etc. If there is lurching then the viscous coupler is likely bad - a good bargaining point as by all accounts it's not to tough to replace.

But overall the 97-98 years are supposed to be good ones.
