I have been really giving my Jeep a workover in trying to diagnose some problems recently and I figured I might as well do everything that I can to help things along.

Aside from the misfire problem I continue to have, I do have some oil blowback from time to time in my air filter and from what I have read, I need to clean out the orifice on the CCV and the throttle body again.

How difficult is this to do?

Do I just pull the hose, orifice and grommett from the rear of the valve cover by hand? Is there anything I need to be careful of here? The Haynes manual just doesn't go into enoug detail for me.

Also, is it true that I have to buy an entire MOPAR kit if I want to replace the old grommett?

Terry Craig over at Off-Road.com has put together a nice write-up of what you need to do right here (http://www.off-road.com/jeep/cherokee/xjtech/engine/40ltr/blowby.htm). Included is a link to another write-up on getting the screens out and cleaned.

I have the same thing happening but I have a 5.2 V8. Is the procedure about the same for cleaning the CCV? SJ
