delay on wipersSwansen 03-27-2006, 01:24 PM my wiper still work on high and low but the delay doesn't work i was just wondering if anybody knows what i'd have to replace to make the delay work again on a side note WHOOOOO hit 200,000!! the other day hardisk_c 03-28-2006, 01:59 AM The problem usually is (at least in the 93-98 vintage that I've worked on) either the column is shot (rarer than the second) or that the Intermittent control box has a burnt circuit in it. If you're solder-savvy, you can pull the box (it's behind the driver's side kick panel. . . and will even be labelled ;)) and examine the board for any burnt spots. . . which can be soldered for an inexpensive repair. My 94 had that problem, and it was a break in the longest span of the circuitboard. Most common cause: trying to run the wipers when they're iced to the windshield (at least it is for us northern folk :-D). Swansen 03-28-2006, 11:27 PM thats really helpful i hadn't thought of that i was going to replace the whole wiper motor, and i think i actually might have gotten a lot of sand in it (don't ask) and i do live in michigan, so it could have been when they were frozen to the windshield, anyways thanks for the help esfd455 03-29-2006, 09:20 PM Swansen, The Delay Control Box is located behind the drivers side kick panel by your feet. Remove the box and open it up. Take the board out and look on the reverse side. You will see the solder traces on the board. If one of the traces has a burned open then this is your problem. The effect the box has when burned is No "Park Position" when turned off. Also no delay positions work. If you can solder then you can fix it yourself. Just solder a small picece of wire on the open spot. Put back in and BINGO its fixed. I had the same problem with mine too. I have a 1994 JGC Lardeo. If you can not solder then have a friend do it for you.........Its an easy fix. FF/EMT Gary ESFD455 kwjs 12-05-2006, 02:40 PM Once again these forums kick butt! I had this happen to me over the past week, so I figured I'd check here since it's helped with the past two issues I've had. This thread hit it right on the button for my wiper issue. We had a snow/ice storm this past week and when running to the store I shut the Jeep off before turning the wipers off. When I came back started the car but heard this loud clicking from the drivers kick panel. Shut the jeep off and restarted, but then the wipers would only work full on with no delay and no home position. I found this thread and it gave me the cheap and very easy solution. The point of this post is just to say THANKS! vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
