96 caravan brakes not workingbrandibissell 03-24-2006, 09:06 PM Replaced passenger rear wheel cylinder. Bled brakes. Had brakes for a day. Next time driving, the pedal goes 3/4 down before there is anything. If you pump them up, they work for a little while. Replaced the driver side rear wheel cylinder. Still same problem. Replaced the Master Cylinder. Still same problem. I am lost. Is there anything else that can be checked or anything else that may be the culprit?? I need help. Vehicle has been out of commission for 2 weeks now because of these problems. Stevo2 03-25-2006, 02:18 AM Replaced passenger rear wheel cylinder. Bled brakes. Had brakes for a day. If you have ABS brakes you may need to bleed the system differently? brandibissell 03-25-2006, 01:44 PM The fluid is not going down and the brakes were bled in the proper sequence for ABS. Everytime we bleed the brakes, they work for about half a day and then go out again. Any other thoughts? All brake lines appear to be dry and not leaking. boost_freak 03-25-2006, 08:50 PM Found this thread searching google. Having the same problems with a 96 Voyager. Have had all the same stuff replaced along with a master cylinder 3 times. The brakes last a couple days then nothing. The shop can't figure out what the problem is and called chrysler and they said they have never heard of such a problem. It's going back again to the shop Monday. If you find anything out post up. Thanks slantsixness 03-31-2006, 10:55 AM You still have air in your lines. Or the rear load valve is bad or leaking, or was the system not bled to this valve? Look under your van.... on the left side just beyond the fuel tank, attached by a linkage to the leaf spring on the rear suspension. Yep... that's the valve... and your problem. They all have one.... and it will give you grief. To bleed the system properly, the rear wheels must be on the ground, or at least jacked up by the axle frame, or this valve will not open, and it will trap air in the hydraulic system. Try it.
