92 lumina euro smokingwucka 03-24-2006, 02:56 PM Wassss up?...I have a 3.1L lumina. The car has been smoking since I biught it. It is not terrible, but I was told by a previous Lumina owner that there is a regulator in the transmission that is the cause of the smoking. The car runs pretty good, but smokes a little. Anybody out there ran into this before? And if so, where is it and how do I replace it? Thanks, Ben richtazz 03-24-2006, 05:18 PM There is a vacuum modulator on the transmission, that when they go bad, will suck trans fluid into the engine and make it smoke. Does it use Trans fluid? If so, that is the issue. The modulator runs about $20, and takes less than 10 minutes to change. It's on the front of the transmission, drivers side, and has a vacuum line running to it. comptech_69 03-25-2006, 11:24 AM ^^ What he said. Also, what color smoke is coming from the car? Although that silenoid could definately be the problem, our higher milage cars tend to burn a little oil also. There are various things that can make your car smoke, but like richtazz said, if your loosing trans fluid that's definately your problem vBulletin®, Copyright ©2009, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
