Can anyone PLEASE tell me what im looking for.

I hooked my wifes car up to the programer/scanner and it said that

all 3 of the E.G.R. sensors are bad.

Where they are located on the motor and how hard are they to change?

Does anyone know what the cost of these parts are?

Thanks again.
You folks are the greatest

P.S. its the 3100 motor, and its the car, not the van

Your car uses a 3-solenoid electronic EGR valve. These solenoids are what you are referring to as the EGR "sensors". Replacement of the EGR valve is the fix. It is mounted on the upper plenum near the throttle body. It takes less than 5 minutes to change (it's mounted by two 10 mm bolts and has one wire harness plug in the center), but that is one expensive valve. An AC-Delco runs $210.69, and Advance and Auto Zone sell theirs for about the same.

Thanks Richtazz,
You are right, the scanner said "3EGR solenoid".
Now that you have filled me in, i know what it meant.
I thought there must be 3 different ones..

I figured it was going to be expensive.

What exactly does that valve control?

Thanks again for the reply.

It's an emissions device that recirculates exhaust gas through the engine. It only opens when the engine is warmed up. When they fail, it can cause the car to run too lean, and thereby run hotter and/or get worse fuel mileage. I've seen EGR problems cause bad mis-fires, and backfiring through the throttle body as well.

Thanks Richtazz,
I will probably work on that thing this weekend.

Thanks again

Thanks again Richtazz.
I bought the replacement valve this past weekend and it works like a charm.
That part was just about to the penny what you said it would be...

Man they are proud of those things..

Thanks again.
You are a lifesaver:grinyes:
